A man has appeared in court charged with using coercive control over his former partner and also making threats to kill or harm her partner.
The man, who lives at an address in Letterkenny, cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim.
The accused, who is in his 20s, appeared at Letterkenny District Court before Judge Ciaran Liddy.
Garda Sergeant Grainne McLoone told the court that she arrested the man at an address in Letterkenny today (Thursday) and took him to Letterkenny Garda station where he was later charged.
The man did not reply to some of the charges but replied “fuck off, fuck off” to others.
The man was also charged that between January 1st and May 29th last year at Meenaleenaghan, Glenties, he did damage a road-sign by discharging a fIrearm.
This charge was Contrary to Section 2 (1) of the Criminal Damage Act of 1991.
There was no objection to bail but Gardai asked for a number of conditions.
They are that he resides at his own address, has no contact with the injured party or any party involved in the case, that he signs on four times a week at Letterkenny Garda station and that he hand over his passport.
Legal aid was granted to the man’s solicitor, Mr Kieran O’Gorman.
The case was adjourned until December 18 to allow the charges to link up with other matters.
